Patty Karuaihe-Martin, new President of the AIO

Patty Karuaihe-MartinPatty Karuaihe-Martin, Managing Director of NamibRe, has been elected President of the African Insurance Organization (AIO). She succeeds Cherif Benhabiles, General Manager of Caisse Nationale de Mutualité Agricole (CNMA).

The appointment took effect on 5 June 2024, at the close of the AIO's 50th Conference and General Meeting, held from 1 to 5 June 2024 in Windhoek (Namibia) on the theme: “Coping with rising natural catastrophes across Africa”.

P. Karuaihe-Martin is a graduate of HEC Paris, the Universities of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape-Occiendental and KwaZulu-Natal, and the Stellenbosch Business School (South Africa), among others.

With over 30 years' experience in the financial sector, P. Karuaihe-Martin has been head of NamibRe since 2014.

During her professional career, she also served as Chairman of the Board of the Organization of Eastern and Southern Africa Insurers (OESAI) (2018-2019) and Vice-President of the AIO (May 2023-January 2024).
