Aviva: insurance fraud on the rise in 2023
Aviva has observed a 39% rise in fraudulent insurance claims in 2023.
The British group has identified more than 11 000 suspect claims amounting to 116 million GBP (147.7 million USD), which is equivalent to 30 misleading claims per day valued at 318 000 GBP (404 824 USD).
More than half of these bogus claims (66%) concern motor insurance (injury and vehicle damage).
In its efforts to combat this scourge, the insurer has doubled its investigation team and provided over 6 000 hours of counter-fraud training. Aviva is currently investigating a further 13 100 suspicious claims files.
