Accra, the capital of Ghana, was struck by deadly flooding following heavy rainfall on 29 June 2026.
The preliminary death toll has reached five, while several people have been trapped by rising floodwaters.
According to local meteorological services, rainfall is expected to persist across southeastern Ghana before gradually shifting westward.
In recent years, Accra has become increasingly vulnerable to flooding, a risk compounded by rapid urbanization and insufficient investment in drainage infrastructure.
