On 24 June 2026, two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a first quake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale was felt near the capital Caracas. A few seconds later, a second tremor of 7.5 magnitude occurred, followed by about 20 aftershocks.
The human toll, still provisional, reported 32 deaths and 700 injured.
In Caracas, several buildings collapsed or were severely damaged.
This double disaster is expected to cause heavy human and material losses.
