What are the expected losses after the cancellation of Koh-Lanta?

May 17, 2018
The TV channel TF1 and Adventure Line Production (ALP) have announced the cancellation of the 19thseason of Koh-Lanta, following an incident between two candidates.

The incident in question, a hint of sexual assault against a participant in the program, is a blow for TF1 and for the production company. At the initiative of the two companies, there has been cancellation of the adventure game shooting in Fiji as well as its broadcast planned for next autumn . This cancellation will cause ALP to lose all the profits from the sale of the program which will not be paid by TF1 due to non-delivery.

In order to mitigate the losses and the costs already incurred for the shooting, ALP would have to turn to its insurer. It is up to the latter to assess whether the ground for cancellation is admissible to cover the lost expenses.

ALP will lose out since the insurance scheme does not cover all of its losses. As for the channel, it will obviously fail to earn the profits of the advertising revenue planned for the broadcast of the 14 prime-times of one of its most profitable programs.
