Warren Buffett, the world's third wealthiest person and CEO of Head of Berkshire Hathaway, will soon donate 3.6 billion USD to the following five charitable foundations:
- Bill et Melinda Gates,
- Susan Thompson Buffett,
- Sherwood,
- Howard G. Buffett,
- NoVo.
This is not the billionnaire's first action of its kind. Warren Buffett, 88 years-old, has set a goal of ceding all of his stakes in his group through annual donations. Over the past thirteen years, the Oracle of Omaha has ceded 45% of its stakes in Berkshire Hathaway to charity, that is the equivalent of 34 billion USD.
Warren Buffett is the co-founder, along with Bill and Melinda Gates, of the Giving Pledge, a concept through which the wealthiest people donate more than half of their wealth. Today, Giving Pledge brings together 208 billionaires from around the world.
