The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) on 22 November 2024.
Through this cooperation, the two government bodies are seeking to strengthen data protection systems in the local insurance sector.
As part of the partnership, a committee made up of representatives from both organizations and other key industry associations including the Nigerian Insurers Association and the Nigerian Council of Licensed Insurance Brokers will be established.
The committee's main tasks will involve monitoring the progress of the MoU, providing advice, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders and providing training to NAICOM staff to improve data protection awareness and skills.
