Qatar Re gets hold of Markerstudy Group insurance companies

Qatar Reinsurance Company (Qatar Re) has taken control of the Gibraltar-based insurance companies of Markerstudy group, namely: Markerstudy Insurance Company, Zenith Insurance, St. Julians Insurance Company and Ultimate Insurance Company.

The acquisition, which came into effect on January 3, 2018, will allow the recently resident reinsurer in Bermuda to expand into the UK market.

The transaction, currently subject to regulatory approval, is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2018.
