Intelligent seat and augmented reality windshield for Apple's iCar

August 31, 2018

The US Patent Office has just granted Apple two patents describing an augmented reality windshield and a smart car seat. The iCar project has re-emerged after being abandoned in 2016.

These are two parameters that will revolutionize the automotive world. The augmented reality windshield is a concept that shows users all information about the journey (obstacles, passenger conditions, weather, etc.) in real time. It also makes it possible to communicate with other users of autonomous cars.

As for the intelligent seat, it has a safety role. It controls the tension of the belts and the tilt adjustment of the seat in case of danger and even makes it possible to warn the users in case of drowsiness thanks to a system of vibration.

To perfect its project, Apple has managed to attract several engineers from other manufacturers of autonomous cars like Doug Field, developer of Tesla Model 3.

The iCar could see the light of day between 2020 and 2025 according to Apple's product analyst, Ming-Chu Kuo who confirms that the product could revolutionize the automobile world.
