IBM unveils its artificial intelligence system capable of debating with humans

IBM has unveiled a new computer able to lead a debate and defend a point of view in face of humans. A demonstration of the system's capabilities took place on June 18, 2018 in San Francisco.

Equipped with an artificial intelligence, the software can scan in ten seconds a corpus of 300 million documents, extract the arguments and summarize them.

During the demonstration, the computer was confronted with two eloquence contest champions. It managed, in four minutes, to defend its point of view on subjects to which it was never trained. It was also able to answer its counterparts and summarize its arguments in two minutes.
