Direct insurers are now returning to reinsurance

Brokerage firm, Willis Re, says this renewed infatuation is accounted for by the lack of profitability of those insurers seeking to diversify their portfolio.

The insurance companies that had in the past given up their investment in the reinsurance sector due to its high exposure to claims may today, thanks, in particular, to the new quantification and risk management techniques, invest in reinsurance without taking much of a risk.
