Boeing indemnifies families of Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max crash victims

According to legal documents filed on 10 November 2021 in the Chicago court, Boeing has taken full responsibility for the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max.

The U.S. manufacturer has reached an agreement with the families of the 157 victims of the accident and has made a commitment to compensate them. The amount of compensation has not yet been disclosed.

In March 2019, the airline's flight ET 302 to Nairobi (Kenya), crashed near Addis Ababa six minutes after takeoff. The crash, which occurred because of faulty software, resulted in the deaths of all the people on board the aircraft (157) who were of 35 different nationalities.

In October 2018, the crash of Lion Air's 737 Max in Indonesia resulted in the deaths of 189 people.

These two accidents had led to the grounding of this type of aircraft and the triggering of the worst crisis in the aircraft manufacturer's history.
