A Christmas present? No, it isn’t the case! It's just a mistake made by the bank. AXA Switzerland overpaid its 4.300 employees by 29 million francs (30 million USD), making them receive two salaries in December.
The insurer did not fail to inform the staff that it had been a mistake: it was neither a 14th month salary, nor was it a bonus. Employees can now choose to either refund the money or deduce it from the January paycheck.
A spokesman for Axa said humorously "the main thing is that everyone got their December pay in time for Christmas".
