Christoph Jurecka, 50, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Management at Munich Re, effective 1 January 2026. He will succeed Joachim Wenning, who will step down from the role on 31 December 2025 for personal reasons.
Jurecka joined the German group in 2011 as a member of the Board of Management at ERGO, Munich Re’s primary insurance subsidiary. He has served as the Group’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 2019.
Andrew Buchanan, currently CFO of Munich Re’s reinsurance operations, will succeed Jurecka as Group CFO.
Separately, Robin Johnson has been appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO), a newly created position within Munich Re. His promotion takes effect on 1 August 2025.
