Online insurance sales sharply increasing by 2016

According to a study by Accenture firm on 78 European insurance companies, the sale of insurance policies via internet is poised to double over the next three years. Sales through this channel are likely to rise from 12 billion EUR (15.8 billion USD) in 2012 to 25 billion EUR (34.4 billion USD) in 2016, 56% of which in non-life insurance and 44% in life. The expected market growth is contrasting being higher in Germany (3% today versus 9% in 2016), Italy (5% to 11%), France (4% to 8%), Spain (10% to 17%) and Scandinavian countries (17% to 28%). In Great Britain, where already 37% of sales are made online, the increase will be limited to just 14%.
