Launch of the surveys for the establishment of cereal insurance plans in Ethiopia

Ethiopia is examining the prospect of designing an insurance scheme aimed at protecting cereal crops, a project designed for small farmers. Ethiopian Insurance Corporation (EIC), committed to this program, will make its capacity available.

The University of Twente in the Netherlands will join in the establishment of this insurance plan, conducting the necessary research work and developing risk models.

The agency of corporate public financing and the national meteorological agency are also partners to the project designed for 200 000 small farmers on the mid-term basis.
