United Kingdom: decline of Lloyd’s 2015 net result

Lloyd's closed the year 2015 with a net profit of 2.1 billion GBP (3.11 billion USD), down by 30% in comparison with the previous year.
This drop is attributable to persistent pressure on the insurance tariffs, particularly in the aviation, property and energy sectors.

In contrast, the London insurance market showed a 6% increase of its gross written premiums reaching 26.7 billion GBP (39.5 billion USD), due to a growing demand for cyber, political and terrorism risks.

Despite this good performance in terms of premiums, combined ratio deteriorated by 1.6 points from 88.4 to 90% in 2015.
