Brokerage and direct insurance: new licenses in the DRC

On 20 June 2020, the Insurance Regulatory and Control Authority (ARCA) issued six licenses for brokerage and direct insurance companies.

The Insurance brokerage companies authorised to operate in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are:

• Immoaf Assurance SARLU
• International Insurance SA
• Southwest Consulting SARL
• SCA Inter A Santé SARL

Louis Kampema Lubala, owner of the Mont Goma establishments, has also received an authorisation to carry on insurance brokerage activities in the DRC.

Afriassur SA is the only one that is allowed to operate as an insurance company among the six new entrants to the market.

The Congolese market now includes 21 operators among which nine insurance companies and twelve brokers.
