Typhoon Nanmadol in Japan: estimated insured losses
A third estimate by the PERILS research firm suggested that the typhoon Nanmadol, which hit Japan in September 2022, could lead to insured losses of 129.6 billion JPY (989.8 million USD).
This cost was estimated at 119.7 billion JPY (914.2 million USD) in December 2022 and at 113.5 billion JPY (866.8 million USD) in November 2022.
It is worth recalling that the cyclone made landfall on 18 September 2022 near the city of Kagoshima on the southern island of Kyushu. The natural disaster claimed the lives of four people and caused significant property damage.
