Youcef Benmicia, President of the Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (UAR), has announced that a team of experts is working on the dematerialization of the motor insurance certificate.
Still in the test phase, the project will shortly be submitted to the relevant authorities for implementation.
The digital certificate simplifies transactions for policyholders, reduces paper consumption, allows instant verification of insurance validity and increases transparency, thereby minimizing the risk of forgery.
Digitizing certificates is an important step forward in the Algerian insurance market's digital transformation.
According to Y. Benmicia, this initiative complements the digital inter-company motor insurance platform (e-recours) which has, since its introduction in October 2022, settled claims totalling 12 billion DZD (89 million USD).
