The total cost of urban riots amounts to 160 million EUR

According to the French Federation of Insurance Companies, the total costs of the October 2005 urban riots in the Paris suburbs rose to 160 million EUR (203.4 million USD).

Particularly affected were motor risks (9000 vehicles damaged), public buildings and companies.

For insurers, losses breakdown is as follows:

• Axa France: 40 million EUR (50.8 million USD)
• The Mutuelle des Collectivités Locales (SMACLE): 35 million EUR (44.5 million USD)
• The Macif: 10 million EUR (12.7 million USD).
