Six dead, over 80 000 evacuated in China floods

China floodsThe Guizhou province in southwest China has been hit by exceptional flooding caused by intense rainfall since 24 June 2025.

The disaster has claimed six lives and forced more than 80 000 people to evacuate their homes. Images from the region show collapsed bridges, mudslides, damaged infrastructure, submerged vehicles, and people stranded in shopping malls.

China has been grappling with extreme weather for more than a week. In Beijing, the capital recorded one of the hottest days of the year. In central Hunan province, tens of thousands were evacuated due to torrential downpours, while in the south, nearly 70 000 residents were relocated in the aftermath of Typhoon Wutip.
