SanlamAllianz: merger approved in Ghana

SanlamAllianz has been granted final approval (non-objection) by the National Insurance Commission (NIC) for the merger of its Ghanaian subsidiaries: Sanlam Life Insurance Ghana and Allianz Life Insurance Ghana, and Sanlam General Insurance Ghana and Allianz Insurance Ghana.

This operation follows the merger between the Sanlam and Allianz groups which, in September 2023, gave rise to SanlamAllianz, a pan-African joint venture operating in 27 countries and valued at nearly 2 billion USD.

The new entity is expected to make a substantial contribution to the development of the local insurance market.
