According to a study conducted by Oman Insurance, one of the leading motor insurers in the UAE, the majority of road accidents take place between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. The study showed that drivers are 20% more likely to be involved in an accident during this time slot than during peak hours.
Parents rushing to pick up their children from school at the end of the day, is also one of the reasons for traffic accidents.
Another cause is that people tend to drive faster in a fluid traffic flow. The drivers’ lack of concentration due to heat and intense light in the afternoon is also considered a risk factor.
