Statistics from the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) show that the number of road accidents in Tunisia in 2019 reached 5 972, resulting in 1 150 deaths and 8 574 injuries.
The losses insured by insurance companies for the motor industry reached 737 million USD (263.063 million USD) compared to 664 million USD (220.605 million USD) in 2018.
In 2020, Tunisia recorded a decrease in the number of road accidents (4 774), deaths (890) as well as injuries (6 522). However, these figures remain high for the year 2020 which was marked by lockdowns and traffic restrictions.
