Pandemics excluded from the insurance policies of French restaurant owners

As of 1 January 2021, the pandemic risk will be definitively excluded from the business interruption coverage of restaurant owners. This decision came after they made numerous complaints against insurers for refusing to compensate their business interruption losses.

Restaurant owners are now faced with two choices. Either accept the new pandemic risk exclusion clause or refuse it. In the latter case, their contracts shall be terminated by the insurer on 31 December 2020.
