New Turkish structure to combat insurance fraud

The Turkish Insurance Supervisory Authority (SEDDK) has issued a circular establishing a new structure dedicated to combating insurance fraud.

This structure comprises two main bodies:

• a fraud prevention committee, consisting of five members representing both insurers and the SEDDK;
• a specialized working group, bringing together representatives from the SEDDK, the Insurance Information and Supervision Center (SBM), the Turkish Insurance Association (BST), as well as insurance companies and/or pension funds.

Depending on requirements, additional working groups may be formed.

The new entity will have an advisory role.
