New tax on motor insurance contracts in 2020

In its 2020 draft budget law, the Algerian government plans to introduce an environmental tax.

The tax that will be levied on all motor insurance policies amounts to 1 500 DZD (12.5 USD) for passenger vehicles and 3000 DZD (25 USD) for the other vehicles.

Many countries have already introduced such a tax which meets the «polluter pays " principle.
