Natural disaster costs as at 30/06/2026

According to preliminary estimates from the Swiss Re Institute, insured losses from natural disasters totaled 42 billion USD in the first half of 2026. This marks the lowest level recorded for a first half-year since 2020.

Severe storms, particularly in the United States, were the costliest natural catastrophe events during the period.

Overall economic losses from natural disasters reached 107 billion USD in the first half of 2026.
