Mustafa Rajab, a (re)insurance professional in the Middle East, passes away

Mustafa Rajab, a leading figure in the Middle East insurance and reinsurance industry, sadly passed away on 15 June 2025 in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) at the age of 96.

A graduate of the University of Baghdad (Iraq) and the University of Geneva (Switzerland), Mr. Rajab was one of the main founders of Iraq Reinsurance Company in 1960. He led the company until 1980.

He later left Iraq and held several executive positions across the region, including General Manager of Arab Re (Lebanon) and CEO of Al Dhafra Insurance Company (United Arab Emirates).

Mr. Rajab was also the author of several publications on insurance.

He is the father of Ahmed Rajab, founder and CEO of SHIELDS Reinsurance Brokers, headquartered at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates.
