MENA: the need for a NAT CAT insurance regional pool

The General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) has called upon insurers and reinsurers of the MENA region to create a regional NAT CAT (natural catastrophe) insurance pool.

This initiative would strengthen the underwriting capacity at the regional level.

Arab countries are becoming increasingly vulnerable to climate risks including floods, earthquakes, tropical storms, droughts and forest fires.
