Measures to prevent road accidents in Algeria

Faced with the resurgence of traffic accidents, the Algerian government has decided to stiffen the penalties for traffic violations. Some of the proposed road safety measures include:

• the criminalization of non-compliance with the highway code,
• quarterly technical inspection of vehicles dedicated to passenger transport,
• the reinforcement of control over bus passenger transport companies,
• the tightening of sanctions against those involved in issuing driving licenses to unqualified individuals.
