The Angolan insurance regulatory framework under review

As part of the review of the insurance regulatory framework, the Angolan government is considering two legislative proposals.

The first, known as the “General Law on Insurance and Reinsurance Activity”, codifies the conditions of access and exercise of insurance and reinsurance activities. The law also concerns the reorganisation and liquidation of insurance and reinsurance companies in financial difficulty.

The second draft tackles the regime applicable to infringements in the insurance sector. The text aims to fill the voids that currently exist in the imposition of fines and other sanctions.
