Algerian insurance market: turnover as at 31 March 2024

The National Insurance Council (CNA) has published the main activity indicators of the Algerian market for the first quarter of 2024.

As at 31 March of the current year, the overall turnover (direct business and reinsurance acceptances) reached 48.4 billion DZD (357.4 million USD), up 4% in comparison with the 46.5 billion DZD (341.7 million USD) recorded during the same period of 2023.

The direct market reported a 0.1% decrease in written premiums standing to 45.1 billion DZD (333.1 million USD).

International reinsurance acceptances grew by 136% to 3.3 billion DZD (24.3 million USD) against 1.4 billion DZD (10.3 million USD) in the first quarter of 2023.
