According to the Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (UAR), the Algerian market's turnover reached 89.8 billion DZD (662.1 million USD) in the first half of 2024, up by 7% over one year.
Non-life premiums increased by 5% to 74 billion DZD (545.6 million USD), while life and health premiums also climbed by 5% to 10 billion DZD (73.7 million USD).
International reinsurance acceptances amounted to 5.8 billion DZD (42.8 million USD), representing a 51% growth over the same period in 2023.
As at 30 June 2024, claims paid by local insurers stood at 33.3 billion DZD (245.5 million USD), down by 5% year-on-year.
