Sanlam Kenya to post positive results in the first half of 2019
The Kenyan branch of the South African Sanlam reported a net profit of 639.7 million KES (6.2 million USD) during H1 2019 against a loss of 1.5 billion KES (14.7 million USD) in the same period of 2018. This profitable performance is accounted for by the financial gains generated by the company's equity and treasury bond portfolio.
The premiums recorded by Sanlam Kenya grew from 3.11 billion KES (30.6 million USD) at June 30, 2018 to 3.35 billion KES (32.4 million USD) in 1S 2019, that is an increase in original currency of 7.7%.
