Car accidents injuries: death rate per country
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), every year 1.3 million people die each year as a result of road accidents, with those under 30 being the most affected demographic.
On a global scale, car drivers and their passengers are the first victims of road accidents, accounting for 29% of the number of deaths. This is followed by drivers of three and two-wheelers (28%) and pedestrians (23%).
The African continent records the highest road death rate with 26.69 deaths per 100 000 inhabitants annually and is home to the country with the highest mortality, Zimbabwe with 41.2 deaths per 100 000 inhabitants.
