Life insurance represents 46.1% of the Moroccan market
According to the data published by the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR), local insurers recorded a 9.8% increase of their turnover in 2021 set at 49.809 billion MAD (5.329 billion USD).
The life and capitalization activity alone accounts for 46.1% of the market's premiums, that is 22.942 billion MAD (2.455 billion USD) in 2021.
The remaining 53.9%,which represents 26.867 billion MAD (2.875 billion USD), has been distributed among the various non-life activities, including motor. The latter recorded 12.988 billion MAD (1.39 billion MAD) of written premiums in 2021, followed by bodily injuries and industrial accidents which posted respective turnovers of 4.772 billion MAD (510.6 million USD) and 2.319 billion MAD (248.13 million USD).
Reinsurance acceptances increased by 0.7% to reach 3.071 billion MAD (328.6 billion USD) as of 31 December 2021.
