Liberty Nigeria’s expansion plans postponed
Liberty, the South African insurer controlled by Standard Bank, announced via its CEO that the company suspended its expansion plans in Nigeria. This decision was taken following a wave of deadly attacks (90 deaths in the last month) and kidnappings (more than 200 schoolgirls abducted during a kidnapping) that took place in the western part of the country. The development of the Nigerian subsidiary will have to wait for one to two years. The Liberty Group is active in over 15 countries.
