Barometer of uninsured driving: characteristics of uninsured drivers in France

accidentAccording to the Barometer of Road Uninsurance in France, published annually by the Fonds de Garantie des Assurances Obligatoires (FGAO), the number of road accidents caused by uninsured or unidentified drivers retracted in 2020.

It dropped from 31 947 cases in 2019 to 27 332 a year later, which is a 14.4% decrease in a year. The compensation granted by the fund fell by 8% in 2020 to 106.6 million EUR (130.93 million USD).

The problem of non-insurance on the roads affects more men (80%) than women (20%). In 60% of the cases, the persons responsible for the accidents were younger than 35 years old.

Another finding is that unemployed people represent 31% of uninsured drivers, followed by workers (23.8%), middle managers and employees (23.2%).
