Adoption of the new insurance code in Sudan

On 9 May 2017, the Sudanese parliament approved the 2016 draft bill governing the insurance business in Sudan. This move will enable foreign insurance companies to obtain licenses to operate on the local market, a practice denied to them since 1992.

The new law provides for the establishment of an independent legal oversight body. It also introduces restrictive measures against the companies that fail to comply with this regulation.
