Mapfre Re appoints Benoit Goureau as new Director of the Brussels Management Center

Benoit Goureau has been appointed Director of the Brussels Management Center at Mapfre Re, the reinsurance arm of Spanish insurance group Mapfre. He succeeds Bernard Chanteux, who is leaving the company. The appointment became effective on 15 September 2026.

Goureau will report to Mark Meyerhoff, Regional Director for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

He joined Mapfre Re in Paris in June 2024 as a Reinsurance Underwriter, focusing on treaty business and non-life claims. He was promoted to Senior Underwriter in April 2025, a role he held until his appointment as Director.

Prior to joining Mapfre Re, Goureau built his reinsurance career at Swiss Re France.
