Lloyd’s introduces regulatory framework for broker-initiated reinsurance structures
October 28, 2026
On 16 October 2026, Lloyd’s of London introduced a regulatory framework for broker-initiated reinsurance structures operating within its market. The new rules will take effect on 1 January 2027.
The initiative aims to facilitate the development of reinsurance solutions while maintaining strict underwriting discipline and safeguarding Lloyd’s Central Fund. It also seeks to address growing demand for broker-led structures backed by external capital.
The framework establishes clear requirements covering market concentration, ownership, capital, governance, portfolio monitoring, and eligibility criteria.
