Algeria’s Draft Finance Law for 2027 provides for the creation of an independent authority to regulate and supervise the insurance sector.
The new body, known as the Insurance Regulation and Supervision Authority, will replace the Insurance Supervision Commission (CSA), established in 2006. The existing commission will continue operating until the new authority becomes operational.
The authority will have legal personality and financial autonomy. Its primary mandate will be to supervise licensed insurers and intermediaries, as well as any natural or legal person conducting insurance activities in accordance with Algerian law.
Its funding will come from state budget allocations and contributions from insurers and reinsurers, calculated in proportion to their respective revenues.
