Urban riots, 237 million USD of insured losses

SMACI, the first mutual of local communities, has estimated at 53.3 million USD the amount of damages resulting from the recent urban violences and uprising that have gripped the suburbs of several French cities. The total sums of the insured damages caused by the urban riots were evaluated at 237 million USD, however, by the insurance sector. The compensation for these losses is now the subject of a legal debate over how to characterize the events and define the state's responsibility in the matter.
