Tianjin disaster, insured losses cost 2 billion USD

Insurance companies affected by the Tianjin disaster record, to date, damages of about USD 2 billion. According to latest figures, the cost of the loss borne by reinsurers amounted to 121 million USD for Hannover Re, 130 million USD for Berkshire Hathaway and 174 million USD for China Reinsurance Group. As for insurers, Zurich Insurance would be committed up to 275 million USD.

According to the US broker Guy Carpenter, the catastrophe cost, which increasing day by day, could reach the final amount of 3.3 billion USD. At this level, technical disaster of Tianjin would record levels matched only by the attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York, the explosion of oil platforms Piper Alpha in the North Sea in 1988 and the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
