SwissLife and Generali reduce the remuneration of their life products to 1%

RendementLow or even negative returns on euro funds are causing turbulence in 2019. SwissLife is the first to announce a decrease in the rate of return associated with these life products, from 1.5% in 2018 to 1% in 2019.

Generali decided to follow in the footsteps of its Swiss counterpart and in turn reduced the remuneration of euro life products to 1% in 2019, a decrease of 0.75 points.

The interest rate curve of euro funds has been steadily falling for several years. The search for risk-free returns forces insurers to invest in low-paying investments and therefore to reduce their margins.
