Special Women, Nawal Al-Qamaish, manager of AIG Property & Casualty Middle East

Nawal Al-Qamaish is a pioneer. She is one of the first women in the Gulf countries to be entrusted with an executive position in an insurance or reinsurance company. The girls in the region will waste no time to follow in her footsteps and take her as an example to develop their own career.

Holder of a graduate degree in science from Concordia University in Montreal and from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (CII), N. Al-Qamaish started her professional career at Arig, Bahrain in September 1986.

She was then assigned to the underwriting department in charge of property and energy treaties. After spending sometime gaining experience in this area of business, she scaled up her technical knowledge by going through various tasks in the departments of the company.

After ten years of duties in Arig, she joined AIG as general manager of the new office that the American group opened in Bahrain in 2006. As part of her new duties, N. Al-Qamaish has managed to develop a substantial reinsurance portfolio in facultative risks in the MENA region.

In May 2012, AIG decided to transfer its office from Bahrain to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the new insurance hub in the Gulf region.
In Dubai, N. Al-Qamaish manages her time, dealing with her business, travelling, and reading.
