Special Women, Faten Douglas, deputy general manager of Arope Insurance

Faten Douglas is a rare example of loyalty to an insurance company. She joined the reinsurance department of Arope Insurance on 19 December 1983. Ever since, she has been climbing all levels of corporate ladder up to the position of deputy general manager.

She is not only the company's memory, but also one of the strongest technical pillars on which Arope has been built.

In a country where women are poorly represented in senior positions, F. Douglas had the merit of building her career in the technical departments traditionally dominated by men.

Her academic training resulting in an MBA in 1985 at the American University of Beirut and a perfect command over languages have destined her to an international career.

Internship programs and seminars with leading reinsurers like Munich Re or Scor, one of the shareholders of Arope, have actively supplemented her life and non life training. Thanks to her experience, she then made optimal use of her professional abilities. She has also been very present in Lebanon and abroad.

From March 15, 2008 to April 7, 2009, she found herself in Damascus where she was running the local subsidiary of Arope in Syria. F. Douglas was also present in Egypt as a member of the technical committee of the group’s life and non life subsidiaries.
