Loss of W3B Eutelsat Communications' satellite

The Ariane 5 rocket, launched on October 28, 2010, failed to orbit the W3B Eutelsat Communications' satellite, designed for television. The latter seems to have been lost soon after its launch, thus, causing a loss of 240 million EUR (324 million USD) for the insurers of the launcher.

This loss takes into account the satellite replacement and launch cost as well as ground services .
